- 1. How does Trust My Web works ?

Trust My Web has a simple goal : help users to check if a website can be trusted, based on several criteria.
These criteria can be split between three categories :- Trust My Web criteria.
- User's rating.
- User's comments and appreciation.
- 2. How to use Trust My Web ?

In this section we will explain the different criteria we are using, and how to read it.
Trust My Web criteria :
There are 3 criteria we analyse to set the status of a website : adult / shocking content, phishing fraud, and malicious software eventual presence. If one of these criteria is bad, the global status will be negative.
Here is the list of the different status we are using :
The status will be represented with that picture if a criterion is "unsafe" :

- 3. Where do you get your information ?

Every piece of data we are using to evaluate a website safety are PUBLIC data and can be reach on the Internet.
- 4. Are this data reliable ?

We are using API's to check a website phishing or malwares potential.
Google SafeBrowsing API for the malware and phishing safety (such as Google Chrome or Firefox web browsers), Google Safe Search for the adult or shocking content checking, and Google GeoMap for displaying the map of infected websites. Others data are given by user's experience.
We can't give you a 100% reliability, but the API's we are using can be trusted (refresh rate : 30 minutes).

Numerous of lists containing billions of URLs can be find on the Internet and are released to use it. So your url was in this list. To help you keep your browser safe and secure, Trust My Web team worked on an add-on that can be integretad to your browser. The add-on is currently available for Mozilla Firefox Browser (from version 3.5 to 5.*) and Google Chrome Browser.
What does this add-on do and how does it work ?
The add-on simply use our data to show with a bullet (for Firefox, the bullet will be a small picture in your status bar, and for Chrome, the same bullet right to the toolbar) if the website you are visiting is safe or not. Here is a picture representing the different status you could get :
The add-on does not get any data that could identified users directly. It is safe to use and free of malware / badware infections. See the Softpedia analyse for more details :
